Pa.: Can't trust city on casinos

The state House voted, 280-20, on Tuesday night to bar the city from enforcing local ordinances when it comes to casinos within its borders. That would include zoning rules that might prohibit building casinos in certain areas. Instead, all decisions concerning casino locations would be determined by the 10-member Gaming Control Board, which is appointed by legislators, including Perzel, and Gov. Rendell.Suggestions also thought to be absurd by the Street administration:
The bill - which affects only Philadelphia - still must be approved by the state Senate and the governor.
The Street administration was offended by the suggestion that the city is too corrupt.
"We think it is absurd," spokesman Joe Grace said.
